Right to Life
I take the job of protecting others seriously, whether it be those serving in the military or defending the rights of the unborn, it has always been a corner stone of my values. Life begins at conception, and I have spent my life fighting in defense of the unborn. While in the Virginia State Senate, I patroned SB 826, which repealed taxpayer funding for abortions. We must protect the lives of those who cannot to protect themselves.
While many planned and unplanned factors surround the creation of a life, it nonetheless must be protected. Women having access to the care they need is paramount, and I will continue to ensure that it is afforded to them. This is why I have co-sponsored H.R. 421, the Allowing Greater Access to Safe and Effective Contraception Act, introduced by Representative Mia Love (UT-04), which would ensure women the access to birth control over the counter.
I understand how personal of a matter this can be, and I have long said that matters of religion and personal morals are subject to the view of the individual. However, the government has a right and a duty to ensure that all people have the unalienable right to life. I look forward to this opportunity to continue to serve all those, born and unborn, in the Fifth District, as all life is sacred and therefore should endure.
